Carnegie Mellon University scientists have been working on a system that can read complex thoughts just based on brain scans, thus interpreting complete sentences. After the algorithm was trained on 239 out of the 240 sentences and their corresponding brain scans, the final sentence was predicted by the system with 87% accuracy.
The researchers gathered data from a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and used the AI machine learning algorithms to the building blocks the brain uses, while also reverse engineering the process at the same time. That is the AI is capable of telling the sentence from a brain scan, and it can also tell which parts of the brain are being used when a sentence is entered.
This is some amazing technology. No, it is not SkyNet age yet, this is more like the preparations for the SkyNet age.
